Many of our customers wish to supply their own file for us to print. We are happy to accept these but they MUST be supplied as a PRESS QUALITY PDF. Failure to follow our checklist will cause unnecessary delays.
Converting your file to a pdf:
This is the basic checklist of requirements BEFORE AND DURING the creation of your PRESS QUALITY pdf.
IMAGES
- Check that all images are high resolution (300dpi) at the size at which they have been placed in the document.
- Check that all images are linked.
- Ensure all linked files are in CMYK or the relevant spot colours.
TEXT
- If any part of your file is created in a drawing application (illustrator/freehand/corel draw, etc), ensure that any text is turned to outlines/curves.
- Check any text in black is 100% black only.
- Do not use very fine or small text white out of solid areas of colour.
- Ensure all fonts are embedded into the pdf.
DOCUMENT
- Check that the document is the correct size.
- Check that bleeds (3mm on all edges) are correct, if your image goes right to the edge of the page. [This extra bit of image gets trimmed off after printing and ensures that you do not get a little white margin of paper on the finished item].
- Check that margins are correct, especially if the printed item is to be folded.
- If the document has multiple pages, supply the pdf in the correct page order.
- Check any elements in the document that should overprint, are set to do so.
- Include trim marks when creating pdf.
- Please supply a set of colour laser or inkjet proofs.
PLEASE REMEMBER:
We cannot be held responsible for errors in printed work when artwork is supplied, or proofs of artwork created by us have been approved.
